Beta versions of Horde 3.0, IMP 4.0, Turba 2.0, Chora 2.0, Kronolith 2.0, Nag 2.0, Mnemo 2.0, and Ingo 1.0 released
Whatever this day might bring to the world, there are some really good news: the Horde Project released beta major versions of their VIPs (very important programs) today. This is very exciting because we will try to release RCs (release candidates) once per week until the applications are stable enough to meet our requirements of production releases. Read further for the most important changes since the ALPHA versions.
These are the highlights of what has been added to the BETA versions since we released the ALPHA versions. See the original ALPHA announcements for Horde, IMP, Turba, Chora, Kronolith, Nag, Mnemo, and Ingo for the great additions compared to the last stable versions.
The major changes compared to the Horde 3.0-ALPHA version are:
- Global personal categories and category colors.
- Access keys.
- Support for forced SSL logins.
- Dynamically updating and extendable menu tree.
- Identity management in all supported applications.
- Context menus and table toolbar for rich text editor.
- Support for theme-based icon sets.
- Themeable elements grouped in one directory per application.
- CSS and some JavaScript switched to static files.
- Icons switched to PNG format.
- User management if using IMAP authentication and a supported IMAP server.
- Support for removing user data from the various backends.
- Rewritten Cache API.
- New generic MIME viewers for text/html and message/rfc822 mime types.
- Full XHTML compliant link generation.
- Support for RFC 2231 encoding.
- Persian translation.
The major changes compared to the IMP 4.0-ALPHA version are:
- Mail folders in the left menu.
- Experimental support for virtual folders.
- Preview of attachments in compose view.
- Send attachments as links.
- Option to not save attachments with sent mail.
- Dynamically extending attachment upload fields.
- Allow to add attachments from a VFS.
- Navigation through message and mailbox views with arrow keys.
- View all messages of a thread.
- Improved sorting by thread.
- Black on white print view.
- Option to automatically spell check messages before sending.
- Optional hiding of quoted message parts.
- Warning if popup blocker is active.
- Option to report messages as ham.
- Option to select message headers to be shown by default.
- Support for message disposition notifications (RFC 2298).
- Localized INBOX name.
- User management for supported IMAP servers.
- Quota driver for Mercury/32 servers.

The major changes compared to the Turba 2.0-ALPHA version are:
- Kolab server support.

The major changes compared to the Ingo 1.0-ALPHA version are:
