Four Horde projects in Google's Summer of Code
Four proposals from students have been selected by Google for their Summer of Code program to be sponsored within the Horde Project.
The Summer of Code is Google's program designed to introduce students to the world of open source software development. Google will provide a $4500 award to each student who successfully completes a project from a set of selected open source organizations by the end of the summer and $500 to the mentoring organization.
The Horde Project has been among the mentoring organizations and Google selected four of our projects to be part of the Summer of Code.
- Scheduling Module
"Sedule" is a Horde application designed to offer multi-departmental employee scheduling services. - Text Editor/Word Processor Module
A new Horde module or an extension of Mnemo which allows users to create, WYSIWYG edit, store, and print (via PDF) HTML documents. - Horde Installer
Setting up PEAR packaging of Horde and modules so that they can be installed with pear install Horde or pear install Horde#Wiki using the new channel and post-install script capabilities of PEAR 1.4. Adding a wizard type configuration set up for initial installs. - Horde_Form Rewrite
Rewrite of the Horde_Form package to use XHTML, eliminate tables, and be even more customisable through good use of CSS. Adding possibility of live updates and as-you-go validation through AJAX.
