Summer of Code 2006

Horde is a mentoring organization of Google's "Summer of Code" this year again.

After we luckily have been one of the few organizations that had been chosen for last year's Summer of Code, we are participating as a mentoring organization this year once again. Much more students, organizations, and project applications are being sponsored by Google this year, thus I expect much more competition between both the organizations and the students.

We already collected a few ideas, like a Horde Live CD, an interactive installer, an LDAP management application/browser, an SSL Certification Authority and many more. But as usual, it's up to the students to propose their projects, and I'm really curious what they will come up with this year.

Since we had some mixed success with last year's projects, we have also set up some student guidelines, partially borrowed from Drupal.

So, if you are a student, interested in spending your summer with something useful, would like to contribute to an interesting open source project or even get your feet wet in the open source world for the first time, and get some nice paycheck for this work, don't hesitate and check out our Summer of Code page, ask questions on the mailing lists, or sign up immediately.

Hope to see you in summer.
