eGroupWare to utilize Horde's SyncML library
It looks like eGroupWare, the fork of phpGroupWare will use our SyncML library to implement their own SyncML server.
Lars Kneschke, member of the eGroupWare developer team, sent a message to Horde's sync mailing list where we discuss synchronization efforts within the Horde Application Framework and the development of our SyncML code.
He pointed to a few weak areas in our code and asked how to contribute. It looks like he will focus on implementing DevInf support, something we unfortunately lack completely at the moment. DevInf elements of SyncML requests contain information about the SyncML client device and its capabilities and features. Evaluating this information is necessary to make sure that the SyncML server only sends data to the device that this device can actually process.
We are happy that eGroupWare, being a competitor in the groupware market, decided to not implement their own SyncML library, but to join forces with us and perhaps finally build the PHP SyncML solution with us.
