Feeds splitted
After some back and forth with the folks from Planet PHP, I have splitted my Horde news feed into a "real" news feed and a separate "releases" feed that is focused on release announcements for Horde modules.
Two months ago, I noticed that my Horde news feed had disappeared from Planet PHP without further notice. When asking the Planet PHP staff, I was informed that this happened because most of my articles were release announcements. While it is debateable whether this is a reason for removing silently a feed completely, I understand their point and after some discussion back and forth, we agreed that splitting my channel would make everybody happy.
As a result there are 3 Horde feeds now available on my site, a pure news feed, a releases feed, and an aggregated feed of both. Anybody who already subscribed to the old Horde feed will get the aggregated feed now, while Planet PHP is provided with the news feed only. You can find a summary of all available feeds and the different delivery methods on my news page.
Since I was told that not allowing release announcements on Planet PHP is the new policy now, I'm curious to see if this is really going to happen. During the discussion Helgi Žormar suggested that a "Sub Planet" is being introduced for project and release feeds, the storage backend of Planet PHP seems to be in place for such an addition already, but the interfaces still need to be written.
